Toni Shoola has worked and volunteered in the non-profit sector advocating and advancing social justice in various areas from global poverty to human trafficking and pretrial justice since she was 15 years old. She’s been a co-facilitator of Healing Conversations since it’s inception in 2018. Toni believes deeply that the liberation of all peoples is connected and in the Nguni Bantu concept of Ubuntu, “I am because you are”.
Nora Riggs is a licensed social worker in Toledo and a follower of Jesus. She has been passionate about working in the anti-human trafficking field for the past 8 years, and the latter part of that journey has led her to learn about the need for anti-racism discussions to occur both in her profession and also in the church. She is eager to have healing conversations with people who want to become anti-racist, justice-oriented individuals. She believes that following Jesus means following in the ways of anti-racism, and is hopeful that the church will rise up to bring about God’s heart for justice in our communities.
